Wax Fantastic is a weekly podcast hosted by Rick & Eddie. The two hosts began the show in 2008 as a fun little hobby and has continued to be the same ever since. Rick who lives in Akron, Ohio and Eddie who lives in Brooklyn, NY had never met in person when they started the show. The duo had met through mutual friends on a chat program. Their complimentary relationship was such that they were able to pull off a smooth and entertaining program not only never having met but never doing the show while being in the same room together.

The two friends finally met during the recording of episode 29 of the show when Eddie made a trip down to Ohio. Aside from being co-hosts the duo has kept a very deep friendship together outside of the show and that friendship and bond is evident in every show they have done.

During the course of doing the "original" 37 episodes, the friends had always worked very hard to make the show entertaining; experimenting with different topics, genres, segments and show guests. They worked hard on the production of the show, creation of promotional segments, bits, show openers, musical pieces, etc. The experiement that started out as a fun hobby was something that they always wanted to keep fun but also keeping in mind, that no matter if we had 2 people or 200 people listening to the show, we wanted it to be the best product they could muster.

In 2009, after 37 episodes, the Friends decided to take a break from the podcast for various reasons, some were personal but mainly because they felt the show needed to be re-vamped. After the hiatus, the hosts got back together and started planning the re-launch of the show.

The changes were started in the form of getting brand new recording equipment for optimal sound quality, the set up of recording studios on both ends. The main work was in developing a more listener friendly and smoother sounding show.
Friend Eddie lined out the manifesto of changes on his blog before the recording of Episode 38

Rick & Eddie decided that 2 hours and in some cases even longer was too long for a podcast, so they decided the limit the show from 45 mins to and hour. At times we would lose focus and spend too much time on a single topic, so it was decided to limit each topic and segment to no more than 10-15 minutes. Each segment follows the layout of no introductions and no outros for each segment, so as not to have the segment prolonged with stumbling introductions and then running too long, like an uncomfortable phone call you don't know when to end. All of these changes, plus adding more variety to show segments, so as to not create a standard weekly template that becomes repetitive.

These changes culminated with
the re-launch of the show on May 7, 2010 with Episode 38

One of the other major changes was the re-vamping of this website and adding
a family of blogs to the site. The Blogs which feature the hosts, also feature various contributors who also at times are invited to co-host with Rick & Eddie to discuss their blogs or in cases where the Friends are not able to appear.

We hope you enjoy the show and reading the blogs, if you are interested in becoming a blog contributor,
